Dr. Lanyn P. Taliaferro

Dr. Lanyn P. Taliaferro is originally from Brooklyn, NY. She earned a
B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Rochester and continued to
work as a bench scientist conducting research in immunology and
microbiology for 2.5 years at the University of Rochester Medical
Center. Dr. Taliaferro earned a Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology at the
University of Maryland Baltimore County and completed a post-
doctoral fellowship at the US Food and Drug Administration.
Currently, Dr. Taliaferro serves as a Health Scientist for the National
Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease at the National Institutes of Health in Rockville, MD.

Dr. Taliaferro lives in Urbana, Maryland and has two young children, ages 5 and 2. As her eldest will be
entering Urbana Elementary at Sugarloaf, she wants to make a positive difference in the education
delivered by the Frederick County Public Schools. As a product of the NYC public school system, she
knows a public education can be rewarding and lead to a successful future and is currently a member of The FCPS Curriculum Diversity Women Solve Group.
