Maria Dennis

Meet our mentor, Maria Dennis. She has a BS in Secondary Education and an MS in Human Services and Counseling Studies.

With 35 years of professional experience in human services, Maria is a program manager for a child, youth, and family program with Family Partnership of Frederick County.

She is a nationally recognized instructor and consultant for the Nurturing Parenting Program and has provided family-centered trauma-informed services statewide for 15+ years. Maria’s career in human rights and social services includes professional experience in both the public and private non-profit sectors.

Her involvement in community activism in Frederick County for over 30 years began out of a necessity to advocate for adequate public-school facilities as the parent of a Frederick County Public Schools student, and then for special education services and accommodations for her son throughout his kindergarten to 12th-grade school experiences. Maria is a deeply passionate advocate for children locally and at the state level as a family services professional. Maria is a mentor for The FCPS Curriculum Diversity Women Solve Group.
